Surplus to hit $3.9B!! That's a lot 'o cash to be stashed in the bank.Budgeted cycling projects: "No new projects or infrastructure will be built in 2018-19. The government will spend $18.8 million…Continue
I've just started a new job back in the city and it's pleasing to see some great end of trip facilities. My building basement has a large secure cage with a pump, showers with free towels, and an…Continue
"Thanks for the update Bob. Demolition started along Vic Rd this week, with trees trimmed, asbestos removed, power connections taken down. Lots of men in orange vests and some side streets closed.
For those that ride along Vic Rd, take it…"
"I tend to go right - this has worked ok in the past fortnight since the cushions were installed.
If we're talking about the same roundabout (ingham and first ave), bumps are installed on all approaches, so it shouldn't reinforce the give…"
"Maybe best strategy is to go left of the cushion if no traffic behind you, but suffer the bump if a car driver is being impatient behind you, ie showing signs of trying to pass on approach.
Thinking about it, dangerous I know, putting cushions…"
"True you tend to go left or right on a bike to avoid the cushion. But having had numerous near misses over a 10 year period commuting this way, I must say this is a major improvement. Well done to anyone involved in helping make this happen. "
"Update: nearly fell off my bike in shock at the above mentioned Five Dock roundabout today.

"I've had my Flash Gordon for 10 years. Still going strong. Nowadays it is mainly used as a winter wind jacket rather than a rain one (a combination of climate change and my marshmallowing has reduced rain events).
However I have…"
"Thanks for the heads up Bob. Design looks really good - I've put my comments in.
The Bike Boulevards in Dulwich Hill would be great to ride on and hopefully set a new standard to be replicated elsewhere."
"I don't understand why there is a need to ban trailers there, as long as they are not encroaching on the cycleway, Can't get doored by a box trailer or boat. And there is never competition for parking, so what is the problem…"
"Sorry to hear about the theft. A flat bar bike looks like a good replacement.
If you are commuting, consider whether you need:
a rack for your panniers (in which case you'll want rack mounts / braze-ons on the bike to attach it to), or…"
Yeah no worries, assuming I can find it... I think it's a standard USA port that you can probably get from any computer shop, but if I find it I'll let you know. I have an SD card reader on my laptop so I always used that.
Ok no probs. Fitness is getting there, although I did get the train to work today for the first time since getting the bike. I still need my weekends off cycling to recover though - the friday night commute home is always a killer!
