Tim replied to tonydelyall's discussion Uber admits to self-driving car 'problem' for cyclists
"Having seen the video, it would have been hard for a human only driver to avoid the crash, given the pedestrian was crossing in between street lamps (or perhaps the street lamp was not working).  Obviously Uber need to improve their software,…"

Tim replied to PeterT's discussion Has Australia turned? - People are letting their kids bike to school themselves
"At my kids school, the previous principal had banned cycling to school as "it was too dangerous". In general it is a safe area, but there is a reasonable amount of traffic including being on a rat run. A Dutch family arrived and promptly…"

Tim replied to Nat Buckley's discussion Penrith - Blue Mts. Shared Path - Design
"The Spoleto-Norcia ex railway in Italy has been converted to a popular rail trail.  There's a 2km tunnel (totally dark for most of its length). Also some spiral tunnels, viaducts.  Definitely worth a ride if you are in that part of…"

Tim commented on Dan's blog post More bikeshare – Ofo vs Mobike vs Earthbike
"Thanks for the review Dan, I'd been waiting for a shootout of all 5 providers.  Interesting that the Mobike app is immature - sounds like they won't last.  I've seen less o-bikes lately, I don't know if it's…"

Tim replied to Bob Moore's discussion Announcing- the Inner West Bicycle Coalition- first up, Lilyfield Rd
"I've just made my submission.  Main points: 1. Bi-directional paths are unsafe. 2. On the steep downhill section, there is increased risk of a cyclist-to-cyclist head on collision.  Several factors apply: high downhill cyclist…"

Tim replied to Victor Hooi's discussion Hit by car - trying to deal with their insurance for property damage, need advice
"Yep, the problem is that you have no contractual relationship with the insurer.  In this case, as they've already said no, you could write to the car owner and leave it to them to decide whether to chase their own insurer.  The letter…"

Tim replied to Victor Hooi's discussion Hit by car - trying to deal with their insurance for property damage, need advice
"Surely you jest...randomly attacking cars isn't going to help Victor get his electronics replaced.  The corollary is the car driver who is cut off by a cyclist, so decides to run the next few cyclists off the road as revenge.  Neither…"

Scientia et Labore replied to Tim's discussion Austroads report released - Bicycle Safety at Roundabouts
"Indeed. I do tend to make a point if I can by placing myself in front of MGIF while they wait. Easier at signals, where you know they are blocked until the signal changes."

Yeah no worries, assuming I can find it... I think it's a standard USA port that you can probably get from any computer shop, but if I find it I'll let you know. I have an SD card reader on my laptop so I always used that.

Ok no probs. Fitness is getting there, although I did get the train to work today for the first time since getting the bike. I still need my weekends off cycling to recover though - the friday night commute home is always a killer!
