I just started a new job the other day (in software) and I've since found that:
- the CEO is a cyclist and doesn't own a car.
- the head of my division is a cyclist and doesn't own a car.
- the building has a secure bike room with lift access.
- the building has showers on every floor.

European Tour: Klausen Pass in Switzerland

I've been planning a trip to Europe and using Google Maps to get a feel for where I'm going. I've even been able to see the quality of the bike paths besides the roads! Street view has been fantastic. I'm wondering whether I even need to go and visit! I feel like I've been there already ;-)

MadameBike said… - Hi Tony, sounds like a good idea to me. Fran Griffin and Doug Stewart from Bike North also work at MQ (Fran is Maths lecturer and Doug is sort of in charge of Buildings and Grounds - now called "Facilities Management").
Anyway, regarding cafes, there is a really nice outdoor section of the Union Building (called the S@M building or SAM - "Students @ Macquarie). You can just buy whatever from inside (great range of choices) and grab a table - but reserving a table might not be possible. It's worth a try I think. :-)

- Yes Optus may be better - reserving a table is always better if you can. In good weather here, the outdoor tables are usually all taken. I am happy to do it over winter. I made a commitment to myself at the beginning of the year to ride every day unless I was ill or injured. I haven't bought a MQ car sticker this year so I can't drive, though I can catch the train. I have bought some good wet weather gear and am setting myself up with lighting and mud guards. I do take your point that numbers might dwindle though and Spring may be nicer. Talk to your friend at Optus and let me know.

I registered before the start of the Stage 1 time trial, however, in my points it lists the riders as having only ridden one stage. I noticed a few others in the Sydney Cyclist league are in a similar situation even though (I think) they had also registered before the start of stage 1. Cheers.
