CELL Swift Tiago
About Me:
29 year old English Chef, living in Glebe. I have a Cell Swift Tiago which I bought in July 2010. Completed my first Gong Ride in 2012 and am now hungry for some more distance/touring rides. However, in 2014 I opened a restaurant in Glebe (Brixton Lounge & Dining) and my daughter was born in late October 2013 - so riding time is severely limited at the moment!

My Story so far (Episode 2)

Posted on April 28, 2016 at 12:08pm 4 Comments

Upon arriving in Australia, I settled in Sydney and set up in Erskineville. Working at Circular Quay it wasn't far on the train but I missed the bike commute that I enjoyed in England and soon bought a second hand bike. Or so I thought... It was an overpriced ($370) 'BSO' - a 'Guy Leech' brand road bike, from K-Mart. It lasted less than six months before, when setting off from lights near Redfern station, the biggest chainring bent outwards at about 90 degrees... LBS said at the time it's…

My Story so Far (Episode One)

No idea what clicked in my head to "inspire" me to write this post but here we go... Apologies for the length - and this is only post 1 of 2 (so far)...

Now, this is a story all about how

My life got flipped-turned upside down

And I'd like to take a minute

Just sit right there

I'll tell you how I became the owner of a bike named Schwinn...

I started out as many do, riding a bmx-type kids bike in the suburbs. As my…

101 kilometres...

Posted on November 20, 2012 at 8:51am 5 Comments

Last weekend, out on an easy ride without any goal in mind, I ended up at Brighton Beach, and so yesterday after a quick googlemap, I decided to head down to Cronulla, the National Park there, and back. I didn't actually work out the distance, I just noted there was a bike path all the way! I was expecting to be home in 60km... but still, I'm quite chuffed to have completed my first 100km+ ride, despite it being pretty much as flat as Sydney can possibly be all the way.

Hi buddy, good to see you. I just arrived at Sydney three days ago, and I have got a mountain bike today. However I `m not quite familiar with the traffic rules here , especially about how to make a right turn in a busy street. I live in Croydon, not very far from you. I am a student in the University of Sydney, which is located in Darlington/Camperdown. So can we talk about riding together? My phone number is 0403411124 or through E-mail Zhowhowe@gmail.com

Great to hear from you!

Hi Mike - we just moved house and have misplaced the cable that connects our Lumix Camera to the computer - do you have that bit? Am not far away so can collect if so.

Cheers Mike - the cable has a special connector on the camera end, and my SD card reader won't read the card. Annoying. If you find it let me know, would appreciate it!

How's the cycle fitness going?

Hi Mike, have ridden several Gong rides and would advise you to set of early 5.30am to avoid traffic and the heat, It is possible to ride in under 4hrs at 20-23km an hour. You need to take plenty to drink and food to eat on the way as well as spare tubes and a basic repair kit. There are several challenging hills on the way but nothing to terrible. If you can arrange to ride on Sunday 2nd January with an early start I will be willing to ride with you. Cheers Nigel
