Jason B replied to Wandy's discussion James Craig road
"It was in operation today.  Observed that the intersection was set to all-red for cyclists and pedestrians, even when the turnbay is not in use, set to red and has no demand on it, and at the start of the cycle.  ie its worse than it was…"

"I know, rode over it just after they'd smoothed it out this morning at 0430! R.T.A utes parked all over the s.u.p and guys yelling at me for riding on an open 'unobstructed' thoroughfare. Thought all the gravel that stuck to my tyres…"

"I was just about to say the same thing.  I too have changed my route to proceed further along James Craig Road and join the bridge at the ANZAC statue.  More distance, but that's what a commute is all about I guess."

Samuel Russell replied to Wandy's discussion James Craig road
"I think I've been three deep with one coming the other way on the CWL island.  "Fun." Also I prefer to take James Craig and meet everyone else up at the ANZAC because the path to the overbridge is "fun" too."

Bob Moore replied to Wandy's discussion James Craig road
"Hope they do give us a default green. RMS said it would be green when CWL is green, I think, but I didnt know about lights going in on the slip road too. I suppose it is the only solution, since riding across the Ped crossing is of course…"

Jason B replied to Wandy's discussion James Craig road
"They finished and sealed the surface last night, and installed a signalised crossing on the sliplane.  Interestingly the bicycle lanterns on the main crossing were set green, but I did not see the person who tripped them.  I'll see…"

"I see they have put some hot mix in the gutter of the kerb to widen the ramp to the shared path, heading to Anzac Bridge. Also there are signs to Dismount there, on both sides of James Craig Drive, if you look hard. One sign is about 50 m from the…"

Bob Moore replied to Wandy's discussion James Craig road
"Yes, they have narrowed it and pushed it down hill away from the corner so you have to simultaneously brake, make a sharp right turn and crane around to the right to see if a truck is hurtling off the main road. Stupid, as it was only just widened…"

James Craig road

Just wanted to let you know that I've written to Roads & Maritime, City of Sydney and Leichhardt Council regarding the widening of James Craig road and The Crescent intersection at Rozelle. The ramp on the eastern side of the intersection is 6 steps backwards from what was there before the work started and even then it wasn't perfect. Had a swift response from RMS (who are looking into it) and City of Sydney (not their area). Leichhardt on the other hand have been very slow....

Llewster replied to Wandy's discussion Running the Red...
"Turning left around the corner on a red is another quirk - i mean at the King St - Kent St intersection - so Kent St cyclists going south cant turn left when the King St when they have a red.  There is nothing in the way of the cyclist turning…"

Ben replied to Wandy's discussion Running the Red...
"Agreed, but I think the intersection of Murray St and Pyrmont Bridge Rd is particularly bad, as mostly the bike lanterns don't change when the pedestrian light changes. I think this intersection has a problem due to the bike sensor not being…"
