I'm currently in the market for a 'new' road bike and thought that second hand may be the way to go to get the best bang for my buck. Can anyone recomend anywhere in Sydney which specialises in selling second hand road bikes? I am looking to spend about $1000 and figured this may be the best way to go, or i'll just get a Cell... Cheers!

Here's my effort to get HarbourLink built -- and the response.
Dear Mr Albanese,
I am writing in support of federal funding for the HarbourLink project.
I am a resident of Rozelle in Sydney, and a regular cyclist. I ride to work most days.
I also ride on weekends to my mother's house in Mosman, across the Anzac Bridge, through the city and over the Harbour Bridge.
Being middle-aged and not particularly fit, with reflexes not what they once…

For quite some time I'd been wanting to find a safe and enjoyable way of cycling out of Sydney to the south. A few years back a group of us started a tour at Moss Vale (See
Moss Vale to Nowra via Numerella Tour). I've done some other riding around the Southern Highlands and beyond, but never felt comfortable about cycling there from Sydney. I'd taken part in the 2003 Big Ride, which…

Well had my first Crit for the season and although I only lasted 36.16 out of a 40min + 2lap race, I am happy where I am at. For now. I entered into the Elite A Bank Of Queensland Twilight Crit series Race 3. Jokingly some one yelled out for no attacks for the first 10 minutes, I think that got confused with 10 seconds as it was on immediately. With crazy speeds of 69km/h with around 40 in the race, and attack after attack, it was a tough day out. I helped bring back a dangerous attack, but at…

Ok, you see it in the Tour de France all the time - those guys come off their bikes with their uniforms in tatters, and they jump right back on and keep riding.
Well, god knows how. I took a nice little spill on the way home tonight, about 400m from home. Knocked the wind out of me and got some nasty gravel rash all done one side from the waist up. The only damage to the bike is a busted bell (Oh No!).
The thing that really sucks is that I knew it would be slippery because of the rain…

Although not around Sydney, I did a fantastic 30+ km ride while visiting my parents in Bairnsdale over Christmas. I'd been thinking of doing this ride for a couple of years, and finally did it. I wish I could do it more often....See
Route Description and a few photos.

Great day for a ride, sunny but not hot, even a little cool (for summer). There was no excuse not to get out for a ride! A good crowd turned up at the Cafe in Moore St. Maybe there weren't too many other rides on, or maybe people just like the
Cruise to La Perouse we (LBUG) do. Its about 45 km return, with a couple of steep hills around Maroubra, Malabar and Long Bay (Broome, Howe and Bilga Cr) on the way out…

Well not quite. It really starts on Tuesday. The Cancer Council Criterium was held in Adelaide, South Australia last night, and as much as many of the US and Euro Pros dont like him, Australia's pocket rocket won a lightening quick(47.417km/h ave sp). Go Robbie McEwen. Now most of the attention leading up to the Tour Down Under, which is yet to officialy start has been on the return of Lance Armstrong, therefore taking some of the pressure off the Australians in the race. It very much expected…

Yesterday as promised was a Daddy Daughter day. It started at about 0630 in the morning when I was woken by Rohan watching Cartoon Network on Foxtel. So I got up and got myself some brekkie and then Eilish got up and sorted herself out. At around 0730 we headed of to Chandler and jumped into the training session that was going on with LCCC..
Kevin, another ADCC member had a small track bike setup for his daughter to use but kindly offered Eilish the opportunity to put on…

Hi,
I produce a radio show on 2SER all about bikes. It's aired at 5pm Monday and then the same show is repeated 10.30am Wednesday.
You can hear some previous shows on the
bikelove website. Or you can email me at bikelove@2ser.com
If anyone has any great ideas for future shows I'd love to hear from you.
Ride on

Judging by the title you can imagine what I ended up doing cant you. I was meeting up with Rocky, a mate from work, for a training ride this morning. Originally we planned to to do Mt Nebo to Jolly's lookout, but he mentioned to me that he did Mt Coothat yesterday and it nearly destroyed him. So after a shocking sleep and a long night I woke up this morning not so refreshed and not keen for 45min of pain along with the numerous undulations between home and the start. Besides with the…

Last Sunday, 11th Jan. The back gate "opened" itself and my dog got out. She was seen on Sunday evening near the IGA at Doonside, and then seen at the cricket / tennis / netball park Doonside on Monday. I was out until 11pm last night looking for her and putting up posters.
If anyone riding the M7 sees a grey and white husky, could you try to catch her, and if you are successful call the pound. She is very friendly. She has one brown eye and one blue eye.
Cash…

Went for a little ride this evening, just for something to do. Left kind of late to avoid the heat, decided to make it a short, brisk one. Tooled through the back streets from Marrickville to Dulwich Hill Station, then sprinted down Wardell Road to Cooks River and onto the river trail. Powered through to Illawarra road, decided I still had some steam left in me before the light started fading, and hauled ass through to Tempe Station.
I'd just started my return leg down the other side…

Well, I am back to the early starts. Was up at 0430 this morning so I could go out and get some training in. Met up with Sandra, Mark, Suz, Mick and at least dozen more riders for out Tuesday morning sprint intervals at Nundah. It was the biggest group so far, and really it was to big for the track and the number of other groups using the same track. Maybeb not too big but the difference in cycling fitness and ability was huge. So it was a struggle to get a some consistant effort in. The fitter…

I saw
this article on the SMH this morning. It pictures the Bay to Bay Bike Path under the railway bridge at Tempe Station.
I never realised the water could get this high. I thought the signs were joking! Obviously not. I guess you just have to carry your bike up over the Railway Overpass instead. Has anyone done the Bay to Bay Ride during a King Tide? There are a few…

So how has my bike riding going? Had a rest over the weekend to recover fromt he track carnival and went back out today. Knocked out a quick 40km of flat and then added another 10km of power climbs on the ay home. Concentrated on cadence and sustained effort. Tomorrow I am heading out to Nundah to have an interval session with Mark and a few others. These sessions are good. 5 lap intervals at about 40km/h with a full gas sprint at the end, then 2 laps recovery and start again. We start at 0530…

Well, considering how much time off the bike i have had and how long I have been back on it, Friday night was a success.
Turned up with plenty of time to warm upand settle myself. Pinned my number on and started to focus. RAce 1 was a 25 lap Scratch race. I was the oldest in the Elite B race and at 34 up against 17-23 year olds I did ok. 2nd in the intermediate sprint and 4th on the line. Happy with that.
Race 2 1600m Wheelrace. Held of the Scratchies until 3/4 lap to go and the…

As much as i tried to have a good night sleep and do the right things to prepare for the track carnival tonight, I had a shocker. Tossed and turned all night and didn't sleep well at all. The only thing I could think of was Pre race nerves kicking in early. Even as I type this I have butterflies. Problem is I really enjoy it. My senses are heightened and my reactions quicker and really cant wait to get on the track now. For a long time now I haven't had these felings unless it has been a title…
