Shaken to bits on Cape Solander

Had a lovely ride today, from Marrickville to Kurnell and then on to Cape Solander, a 2.7km trip through the national park just beyond the suburb of Kurnell.

The first km or so is a lovely cruise up a small hill and through some very shady groves of… Continue

You’ve Paid Your Rego – So Enjoy Bike Week!

Nice blog post by John Flynn at Cycling Central.

Every so often you experience one of those awakenings that reminds you of why you took up the cycling habit. For me, “Ride to Work Day” as part of Bike Week in Queensland’s South-East, was one of those days. The day started at 5 AM with a tempo ride to bayside…

The Amy’s Ride Albury report

On Friday the 7th of March, I went to Albury for the Amy’s Ride Albury. This ride was held as part of the Multisport Albury City (MAC) event held over 2 weeks (see for more details). I decided to give myself 3 weeks off work to wind down and so decided to include the Amy’s Ride Albury and the Big Canberra Bike Ride in the first week.

There was a choice of either a 124 km ride or a 40 km ride. Both of these rides took the riders… Continue

Broke spoke part 2

Good morning kiddies, here is today's quiz.

Q: What do you get when you cross a bent 5mm thick piece of steel rod of length 300mm with a 700mm bicycle wheel rotating at almost 300 rpm?

So, I'm riding down the M4 eastbound and I am about 1Km west of Homebush Bay drive when… Continue

Broke spoke :(

I was riding towards Parramatta (under the M4) yesterday evening when I hear a bang and my back wheel decided to no longer turn. At first I did not know what had happened, everything looked ok except for the fact that my rear wheel was rubbing hard against the brake pad. Then I found the broken spoke. Argghhh!!! Hadn't we just been discussing this the other day? Why couldn't we have been discussing winning the lotto or something. To top that, the battery in my phone was flat. So of I start… Continue
