The Frank Lambert Memorial Rant
Now that my son is ten months old he is becoming a lot more active. I'm his full-time carer and I do feel there is a difference between what I let him do and what the others kids are allowed to do by their over-protective mothers. When we go to the playground he often ignores the play equipment and… Continue

Ok..first ever blog I posted here, ever, (anywhere on the net) and I got hammered for spamming. I saw a post here of similar "
advert blog" nature
to my initial blog and had no comments, so thought it was a good place to start. I didn't know it was spamming - hence blog has now been deleted. Can you blame a mother who just started riding in Sydney (now with a toddler), who absolutely loves her bike as it fits the purpose, got a bit more involved and is now trying to earn a side… Continue

In the course of the threads about bicycle helmets, many people have made comments based on their intuition. It just seems impossible
that forcing people to wear helmets hasn't made cycling safer. It just feels
wrong that helmets don't seem to make any difference in terms of injury severity or crash survival rates.
People often feel so strongly about their feelings that they flatly deny the observed… Continue

A couple of different photos from maybe 100 metres away from each other, taking in different views of the windmills. To be completely honest with everyone, I've been past here a number of times on the cycleway and noticed them for the first time on yesterdays ride, so i'll give a clue straight up and say I think it is in the Fairfield LGA. Any ideas?… Continue

We are casting an advertising campaign for a pharmaceutical product and we
need to find female mountain bikers between the ages of 35-40 approx.
They don't have to be professional mountain bikers just have an interest in
The shoot dates would be 1/2 day between 29-31st March and the fee involved is $950 for 1/2 day shoot and the potential to earn more!
If you could forward this to your female mountain bikers / mailing list and get them to email me… Continue

This morning, I did a bad thing, which no doubt reinforced the notion that all cyclists are hoons.
I was waiting at the lights by the Slip Inn to go up the King St cycleway, and just as the lights were about to change a car turned left, despite the fact that the junction was blocked. This meant that they were slap bang across the path that all the cyclists needed to take to get onto the cycleway. Needless to say it was a 4WD.
This annoyed me, and after I got around the car I… Continue

I'm thinking of doing the Great Vic Bike Ride again. Real shame the NSW Big Ride is no more, but here's my take on the 2007 GVBR: http://richardtulloch.wordpress.com/2009/10/21/le-tour-de-gippsland/

New Zealand so far has been a cycling paradise. Scenery that looks like it should have come from a fantasy cycle tour movie directed by James Cameron:) and drivers that give you plenty of room along with generally good road surfaces. Honestly I can't think of more that you would want from a cycle holiday in terms of terrain.
After the first couple of days my legs and bum warmed into hauling a heavy load and with many kms and 4 packets… Continue

Are you experienced?
Well I am
I ride it every day, rain or shine, I’m on my way
In my town when it rains the sky opens and you have to look down to breathe.
The sun scorches and the humidity sucks you dry.
Are you experienced?
Well I am, just rollin’.
Fat banker, lycra wanker
Your ten thousand dollar bike can’t help you when my Surly cross check leaves you behind, just rollin’, she… Continue

Ok 7 mins on the computer here goes:
So far NZ is beautiful! CHristchurch has lots and lots of bike shops and bicycle lanes everywhere - it is really impressive. Lots of people on all sorts of bikes around going about daily stuff as well as some pretty hardcore road cyclists around.
Today we went for a practice ride out to Lyttleton (we thought 10km) which turned out to be more like 40km the way you can actually go by bike. It also involved some wrong turns… Continue

Well, yesterday was my first commute from Castle Cove (near Chatswood) to Matraville (Eastern Suburbs). 25 km each way. It took me 2 hours for the morning leg and 1 hr and 45 minutes for the afternoon leg. Somewhat longer than I thought :-P .
Have to say that I did enjoy it and did not feel as intimidated by the traffic as I thought I might. I was, however, caught by surprise when I returned home and dismounted the bike. I was shaking slightly, felt extremely tired,… Continue
