Is Jack Walsh's Punchbowl shop closed?

I heard over the weekend that Jack Walsh's Punchbowl bicycle shop has closed. It truly marks the passing of an era in Sydney's south-west and in Australian cycling. Jack once rebuilt a set of wheels for a road bike of mine and his handiwork is a prized posession of mine. Jack has run his shop on Punchbowl road continuously for 65 years. Wanted: old ski poles (yes, it's about bikes!)

Rummage your attics and garages, and those of your friends. We need old ski poles to make bicycle polo mallets. The aim is to be able to run bicycle polo championships by the end of the year. Search far and wide...

Waterfall vs. my face

The first time I ever rode to waterfall was in the infamous 2006 Gong ride, when a howling southerly made life hell for everyone and left me ill for most of a month with a bout of sinusitis. I've since learned I have a predeliction to sinusitis and will at some point in the future have, as my specialist says, my face "re-plumbed."
