I have a rear mounted seat and this works fine, however I now have another daughter and they both want to ride with me :).
With a wife that is no way interested in cycling I am investigating the Wee Ride front mounted seat, has anyone got one, do they work okay? can you pedal with that infront of you on a mountain bike?

Last Saturday the BIKESydney crew rocked along to the Paddington Alive Festival on Oxford Street. We were running bike valet parking for the event, handing out cycling related information and we ran a social ride.
The morning started slowly until David realised that people might be avoiding us thinking we might be religious zealots. One big hand-made sign advertising free cycling maps later and the above was the result.

I left work early today, as I was feeling crook. Because I was feeling crook, several people told me to 'ride safely'.
It must have jinxed me, as I was knocked off my bike shortly after setting off. I was going down Miller St approaching the Pac Hwy, and there were some peds crossing in front of me. Most of them saw me coming and either stopped or scuttled across. As I got closer, one guy just stepped off the central curb where we had been waiting with his mates, and started…

SC Brain Trust, help!
After an uneventful ride from Marrickville to North Sydney this morning, my left knee is clicking quite badly every time I take a step. The clicking's not painful as such but it's got that "just try me" twinge every time it happens, like the next one is going to explode in a world of hurt. Help? Riding with cleats on a MTB, seat's up nice and high, what's the go?
On a side note, my right hip hates me too; apparently running for a bus last night was…

I was in the outlet Kathmandu store at Birkenhead point the other day, and noticed that had a cycling rear light reduced to $10 from $30. I usually have two lights on my bikes, and only have one on the new one, so I bought it. I wasn't expecting much (their cycling stuff is pretty cheap and nasty), but I though might do the job for $10.
I couldn't see much of how it worked, as it was in one of those plastic packages that is virtually impossible to open, with most if it obscured by…

Sunday 16 August 2009 was an afternoon of talks on safe cycling, a helmet demonstration, road worthiness tests on bikes, cycling games, and the ubiquitous smell of sausages under an unusually blue, warm winter’s day.
The finale was one hundred and two cyclists participating in a police escorted bike ride mostly on shared bike/pedestrian paths and short stretches of roads in the Northern Beaches - the culmination of five months’ work by a group calling itself Cycle For Life…

I've been sharing one pair of pedals between two bikes since I went clipless a few weeks ago. I was pleased to pick up a second hand pair at the Deus swap meet on Saturday. One was spinning more freely than the other so I stripped them down, cleaned and regreased the bearings. All good. Put them on the commuter, went for a quick spin to test them out and relaxed with the knowledge I'd just saved myself $50+.
Riding to work this morning, about 5 km from home, left foot comes loose from the…

What a beautiful morning it was for a ride today. I rode from Terry Hills down Akuna, just magnificent. Continued to West Head, the road has been resurfaced and is fantastic to ride on. Noticed more riders than usual (what don’t people work anymore).
The spring flowers are out, the distant ocean was sky blue and inviting, I didn’t need my arm warmers and it was just like a summer’s day.
I seriously need to get my arse resized, to a small size so that I can ride those hills better. A…

Bike Valet Parking is a part of Bike Sydney that I am very involved in.
It gives me great pleasure and I hope that the BVP is a shape of things to come.
Please vote for the great effort and example that BVP is.

“Well, that's done.” were Peter Heal's words as he stepped casually off his recumbent bicycle last night at Bondi Beach, having just completed a 4014 km ride from Fremantle, WA, in 282 hours (11 days, 18 hours) and a few minutes.
There were no champagne corks popping as Peter freewheeled down Campbell Pde to the finish. The low-key welcoming committee consisted of Audax Club stalwart Malcolm Rogers and his wife Marja, with me tailing along behind after meeting Peter at Centennial…

Well, well, here it is, my first attempt at building a single speed bike?
Why?
For the last five or so years, I've got into riding bikes, mainly mountain biking, but a little bit of road stuff for commuting and fitness. For some time the thought of riding a bike with only one gear has struck me as a little crazy, especially doing it off road, over hills, or any substantial distance.
I still think it a little crazy, but the idea has been planted, to build a bike,…

This morning I took a different route to work. Usually one of the highlights of my regular morning commute is crossing over the M4 and noting the car park below me (yes I have a rather boring commute route).Today was different.
For some reason I went a way that I rarely go and discovered................the power of the button. One press was all it took. The traffic on the Great Western Highway slowed, then stopped and then the cycle lights turned green to let me continue on the cycle…
