Good news! (not cycling related)
I was supposed to go out for a ride yesterday, but for various reasons I didn't make it. So over dinner last night Mrs Dan said I should go out today instead.
But it didn't happen, because at 5am Mrs Dan went into labour, and Baby Dan the second was born at 10.45am.
Everyone is doing really well. Just such an amazing, emotional, wonderful experience. I now have two beautiful daughters.
I did get to ride my bike in the end though, as I cycled back to the hospital for…

Selling the muse
In the end, it was quite a snap decision. 'Why don't you just buy that one from me?' I found myself saying, as I discussed yet again the bike that a friend was going to buy. 'I'd love to - that would be perfect. I like that bike.' came the response, and it was done. The bike that got me back into cycling, that got me fit…

The French Cusine on the UNESCO world heritage list

Brocolli over Gross Schiedegg
This 450 gm hunk of broccoli never expected to be dragged over the 1962m Gross Scheidegg on a bicycle. And I wasn't expecting to be its host either. Needless to say when I discovered it in my pannier on the other side I boiled it up and ate the bastard.
My first high Swiss pass was an accident, I didn't have a…

Speed Limit proposal
I would like to put this idea forward to the forum: What if?
regarding major cities.
a speed limit of no greater than 50Kp/h existed within 20Klm of the CBD
a speed limit of not greater than 60 Kp/h from 20-35Klm from CBD
a speed limit of not greater than 70Kp/h from 35-50Klm from CBD
except for regulated zones or motor vehicle dedicated freeways
Perhaps slowing down traffic may make for a safer environment for all commuters including…
