Goulburn Cycle Grand Prix

My apologies to people who have already read a similar post on a couple of other forums I contribute to but this ride was good so I thought I would mention it here. The long road to Brisvegas 6

It's been a while now and to be honest progress has stalled a bit on the training. A new job, a new love and house hunting has left not much free time for the training schedule..
Weight wise I've sat at about 80kg now for some time so no great additional wins but no losses either. The next month is going to have to be pretty big or this little chicken is going to hurt for all to hear.

New bike racks at work

Today an email came around at work informing us that new bike racks had been installed in the basement car park, and encouraging us to use them (and more generally encouraging riding to work).



This is all very commendable; they have also recently cleaned and repainted the shower room (which previously had mildew on the walls and was filthy). There's still only one shower (well, one male, one female) for the whole building, but hey. You can have some nice chats whilst queuing… Continue

Last Sunday

We finally got round to trying out the new bike lanes last Sunday, and they were great!



Saturday night, we were returning from a 4y.o.'s birthday party, and got to check out the southern end of Bourke St by car. IMO, the main reason for the John Mahoney and David Hannan lawsuit is the speed humps restricting the car/truck traffic, not the fact that there's a green stripe down the side.

B-double or "Hexacycle"

Anything is Possible!



This is my family plus a couple of borrowed kids to makeup the numbers on our "Hexacycle" (6 wheels). My kids started off in the baby seats on the tandem bike. MacBUG still around

Macarthur Bicycle User Group is still here. We left Bicycle NSW and went our own way but receive insurance through Pedal Power. A much smaller group these days, we bushwalk as well using our MTB for carrying camera gear into the Woronora Plateau in the fight against the destruction of Sydney's water supply. Radish gas!

I had occasion to add something else to the list of things I've carried on the Radish today. I needed a new gas bottle for the BBQ (and if you were wondering why I am barbecuing in the rain, it's because our oven has broken, and we've got a chicken that needs roasting), so rather than jumping in the car I took the Radish.

The price you pay for riding a bike



Today I cycled down Crown St instead of my usual route on Bourke St. I wanted to avoid the mess created by the construction work for the cycleway, and I figured it would be an opportunity to see why so many cyclists prefer Crown to Bourke.
