Sydney City Centre Access Strategy - points to make & note weird Survey

Here's some points for a submission to be sent by email to access.strategy@transport.nsw.gov .au

[1] Support the approach for this Strategy for Sydney city in valuing street space and planning for mode shift (away from car dependence); for good integrated planning and results we support the holistic approach rather than the segmentation into modes or…

Hooray for Hoofddorp, Holland

After 40 odd years of life, it was finally time to visit the Netherlands. It was for work, but still an awesome chance. Confirming our destination is bike central, KLM's plastic goblet has two bikes on it, along with a tulip, and a clog. On approach to Schiphol airport, a depressing 8 lanes of cars is the view out the window, but unlike other airports (tell me if I'm wrong), there's a bike path beside it, and more on the map.

We train it to Hoofddorp, in the industrial zone, as our…

Notification emails or sms from this group on specific topics

Hi all, i've just join this group and am interested to know if it is possible to set up a notification to my email or sms when a particular topic is posted. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks to all those who gave up their Sunday to help out with this annual cycle event. But Sydney, we can do better.

Imagine the reaction of participants in the City to Surf if they had to stop for traffic lights every few metres, form up in single file in one lane on Williams St so cars could zoom by in the other lanes, run on sections of road not closed to traffic and without anyone controlling the traffic flow and having annoyed drivers blaring their horns and revving to get past…

Kellyville Cycling Groups

Hi, there, I am just starting on the cycling thing and was wondering if anyone knows some cycling groups that meet around the Bernie Mullaine sporting complex that don't mind a straggling beginner?

A long way for a pie?

Well I rode 150 Km yesterday and ticked off one of the rides I have wanted to do since I arrived here in Canberra. I have been planning to ride to a number of the towns around the ACT. I have rode to Goulburn 4 times and Bungendore once. I had planned to visit Yass earlier in the year when my wife was in Sydney for her high school reunion but wound up having to cancel that when the reunion was cancelled. For the past week she has been in Brisbane visiting a cousin who is suffering cancer and…

Oh, joy!

Wow, have you seen McCarrs Creek Road? It's been resealed at last (only on one side of the road so far). The road is closed again on 9/10 so hopefully after that it will all be smooth. The new bit is from the pay station closest to terry Hills going down towards the West Head turnoff/ Church point direction.

It's deceiving though. You can go so fast on it now as you don't have to look out for all the holes and craters. But you get carried away and easily forget to pay attention to… Continue

California commuting

All the leaves are brown / And the sky is grey / I went for a walk / On a winters day…

Only I didn’t; the leaves were mostly still green, the sky was blue and of course I wasn’t walking – I was riding a bike. Still, that song was still going around in my head as I pedalled around that bastion of the American Dream – Silicon Valley, California. I…

Joys of the family bike ride

We're staying up in the Myall Lakes NP as we do every October and this morning we went on my traditional family bike ride.

The weather was a little cooler, a little cloudy, perfect. Rain predicted for the afternoon. OK.

It all started well. A few kms down the dirt road and over the Bomba Point ferry and down the Mungo Road for a walk through the Mungo Brush rain forest.

Lovely. We made it to the rain forest just in time for a light shower. No big deal.… Continue
