I need help deciding on my replacement bike

My bike was stolen on the way back from a trip to tassie - I need a replacement - and I'm a little undecided....

So if you can help at all, I'm looking for something with these criteria:

  • I ride everyday so I guess it's good to have something comfortable
  • I like to go cycle touring so something that doesn't mind the hills and bumps
  • I like to carry excessive amounts of stuff (and ocassionally dink people) so something sturdy

This morning I met a truckie....

This morning I was happily riding my bike up oxford street in a colourful summer dress. I was trying to get in the right lane before Taylor square so I didn't get stranded on the left of the road. A big petrol tanker was behind me but I gave the truckie a wave and he slowed down to let me in. I continued along fitzroy street and the truckie passed me and gave me a wave. When vehicles start talking

I had the strangest experience on Sunday while cycling along York Street in the city. I pulled up at a red light on the right side of a bus. As I sat there admiring sydney's architecture, I notice the bus creep forward next to me. The bus driver then started to speak to me as his window was now inline with me. Changing phases - how to ask the RTA to consider cyclists
