Ever had that... "The Castle" moment?

This afternoon I went to get my blue appollo track bike to take it to the velodrome tonight. I hadn't been on it for months and it had slowy made its way to the front of row of bikes that fills one hallway and annnoys the crap out of my flatmate.

And then I had a The Castle moment.

Ay Steve, Can you move the Camira? I need to get the Torana out to get to the Commodore.
Sure thing Dad, but I'll have to get the keys to the Cortina if I'm gunna move that Camira.
Alright mate, just watch the boat.

4 mins later I'd reshuffled the entire fleet and I'm ready to go to Tempe.

Heheheeeee! It's amazing how many bike enthusiasts have many bikes! (and keep them inside the house, not in a garage)

I have a spare room in my unit. It's full of bikes, but not just mine but bikes that belong to others who don't have room at their own place.

Currently renting out space for anyone's bike. Current rental cost is 33 rupees per year.

As a counterpoint...my bike (singular) lives out in the yard. It's locked to a brick wall, and is covered by a tarpaulin; no cushy hallway for it.

Under a tarpaulin, it'll be covered in Huntsman spiders every night!

Yeah, it gets a few creepy crawlys - it's bad when I'm riding along and feel something on my hand and look down...and aaargh, a spider!

John, I think you have a typo in your formula:

ideal number of bikes = N + 1 where N = the number of bikes already owned

There, fixed it for you

We are a bit like that here as well with most of our in the front room, 1 tandem in the hallway and another upstairs. My 2 track bike are locked up at the velodrome due to a lack of space here. Just looking for a track bike for Marian at the moment.

Adrian - that's hysterical. Now I can see what you were talking about. I think you need some more halls too.

"Covered by a tarpaulin", Colin?

Loogsury! We used to dream of a tarpaulin when we were young... Our bikes lived in a cardboard box in middle of t'road.
