This morning I got out for a ride on the M7, something I haven't done for a few weeks - not since I did that Riverstone ride with John H and Rob K. It was a great day for it, a little cool, light wind, and plenty of others out doing the same. I had done about 20 k's when a much younger, much fitter and faster guy overtook me. He was wearing full team kit (TVH) and we exchanged greetings as he went past. I kept tootling along at an average pace until I came around a bend and there he was, sweeping glass off the track with a leafy branch. I thanked him as I went past and started thinking about what crap role models we have these days, and here was this guy doing something for the community in clearing broken bottles off the track. In fact he inspired me so much I did a similar thing further on. As you might expect, he passed me easily again a few K's further on, but he made my day.

S#@t happens. He did something about it and probably didn't whinge about it later. Cool. I agree Paul, an inspirational act. Good blog.

I carry a small dustpan brush in the pannier, as I've got 3 wheel tracks to worry about on the trike. Its easy to reach and only takes a couple of seconds to clear broken glass.....being low to the ground I don't even have to get off the bike.

Mr recumenteer... can you install a brush, angled like a grader, that can be lowered between the pair of wheels (front, rear?).. it'd be mighty handy for this sort of thing.
