Well, after 7 years of living with a cyclist (commuter/roady/grocery carrier) the biggest scaredy-cat in all of the cosmos (that'd be me) finally boarded a brompton and learnt not to fall off.

Amazingly (to me at least, but probably not to normal people) it only took me 6 days to go from sitting on a stationary brompton (with my feet only fleetingly leaving the ground) to pedaling from my trainer's view.

I am on now at Day 3 of (wobbly and not very controlled) riding - but least my legs are going around (as are the wheels) and I haven't crashed  - although there are still a few stop/starts especially if I think I am too close to...well anything (posts, bumps, slopes, grates etc).

So, here I am...trying to be a cycle-chick, rather than just a plain chicken.

Congratulations Bicycle Belle! Keep it up! It's a small victory over the oil companies.

Great stuff, the (almost) only thing you need to remember is to look at where you want to go and the rest is (almost) automatic. Of course the almost is the tricky bit, but you are 80% there now.
