Cycling in Sydney Australia
I am a troll. I have been LURKING for a long time; this is trolling too. But what I hate the most is the crap that gets published in the name of being heard (or read in this case).
The heading of the site is SYDNEY CYCLIST. Under that heading many people join the site, not unreasonably, with the expectation of getting information in relation to cycling in Sydney. Some topics are about riding, others about what bike to get and even information on bike-related events and this is what SYDNEY CYCLIST should be about, not about people hijacking topics to go off on unrelated tangents just to draw attention to themselves.
I am writing this blog post because I want the crap to stop. Without pointing the finger, all I want is for people to help others by staying ON TOPIC. I have read so many entries and threads that are just a chance to try and be funny to a set (and constant) small group of you, who either are pedantic about the text and/or go way off topic. This is both alienating to new members, who will leave because they dont know that you're being 'just a smart ass' and also alienates longstanding members, who think it's pointless to continue to visit the site because it's straying away from what it should be about.
This site could be great - it was when it was little, now it is big and has fewer active members, while cycling in Sydney grows.
I might not be in charge of you or your parent but some of you are acting like brattish, attention-seeking children. You know who you are. Please grow up.
