Cycling in Sydney Australia

Three and a bit years ago I put up a video here of my little boy, then two years old, flying down the hill on a balance bike.

A year later and he'd transitioned onto a bike with pedals and no training wheels and was doing pretty well.

Today he is 6. This is the first ride of his new bike, a second hand 20" wheel road bike I bought a few months ago.

I've replaced some bits on it, and the green tape...well... he's a Cav fan, what can I say :)

I suspect cycling is going to stay with him for quite some time!

Happy Birthday Miles!

Awesome! That's quite a pace, surprised you could keep up, Damian.

Happy Birthday!

Sensational. Happy Birthday Miles. Great bike.

Looks like he has a taste for pushing the big gears.

Kylie and Dan, he'll be beating me in the not too distant future I know it!

It's my training motivator, being faster than him for as long as I can :)

Speedy.

Neat idea to go drop bars with cross top levers.

baa baa, yeah the cross top levers were one of my better better ideas :) They worked really well for his small hands and give him all the braking power he needs. The cane creek stuff is really nice.

The two other roadies we had to move for (the park was half closed off yesterday so people were riding both ways) were blown away when they saw him riding, massive grins as they passed :)

That looks Awesome. Miles is doing really well. Congratulations.

Does he have an idea about how to use the gears? I have honestly never seen such a small road bike. My experience with kids bikes has always been BMX or 24" or 26" MTB based.

Was it hard to come by?
