Mike Rubbo's upcoming exhibition
Better known for his films and advocacy of helmet law reform, Mike is also an artist and is exhibiting in Sydney soon, "Nothing but bikes: Beauty in Utility".
I'm posting this because Mike is fairly busy getting ready for the exhibition, which will include lino-cuts, rubbings and solar prints. Find out more about these at Mike's flickr site on

The exhibition runs from July 4th till July 17th. at TAP gallery 278 Palmer St., Darlinghurst every day from noon till 6 pm. Official celebration 3 pm. Sunday 10th July. All who come by bike on Sunday will be in the draw for art.

Thanks for the plug, Nick. I've been working very hard to create what I hope is a world first that will throw a good glow onto bikes, especially stately bikes of the sit up sort.
There will be 61 pieces of bike art on the walls of the Tap gallery7, Darlinghurst, starting July 4th. Surely no one artist has ever puts 61 works on bikes together. The show does have a manifesto.
My contention is that the stately beaty of the sit up bike, the way it displays the body, has been overlooked, not by phootoi

Somehow my comment posted itself, half done. I was saying, .......not overlooked by photographers but graphic artists. I hope that by revealing the beauty and charm, that people will want to ride such bikes. I hope that non riders will overcome the mantle of danger which the comp. helmet casts over cycling in this country, and just give it a try.
