A proposal to adapt low usage East side footpaths for two way, bike shared pedestrian route.
West side has the residential aspect whole East side is mostly commercial including IKEA at Sydenham/Tempe.
At the south Tempe end there are residential homes in the adjoining side streets but still not a lot of pedestrian use of the footpaths along the Hwy.
Tempe Tyres and Wheels is on the East side.
Near there you can enter Tempe reserve to cross Alexandra Canal to the airport or go over Cooks River bridge on the Hwy to head toward Botany Bay via skirting Kogarah golf course.
At the Tempe south end over the Cooks River bridge there is a large residential high density area adjacent Wooli Creek railway station.
Potentially many commuters toward the city might use this bike way along the Princes Hwy.
With a Westconnex proposal announced by Infrastructure NSW, this could result in reduced traffic burden on Princes Hwy and heavy vehicle traffic which will make this bike way part of better amenity for the Princes Hwy that has many retail shops now bereft or struggling due to low stopping parking availability and low human amenity of the Hwy due to so much traffic.
Hopefully a Westconnex bypass from the M5 picking up Port Botany and airport traffic would ameliorate the situation now with Princes Hwy?
