This week I braved the big bad world, roads and drivers – without my riding instructor, escort and all round nice-guy.

Without anyone to monitor traffic conditions for us, Julliet and I rode slow and steadily - using park paths, back streets and shared paths. We resorted to a bell chime only once, to warn a couple who were preoccupied in a canoodle on the path. Julliet disarmed them with her sheer beauty and sparkle. Secured with a matching red knog lock to a pole Julliet waited patiently while I sourced our supermarket supplies.

And we got home safe and sound without incident, travelling almost 2kms...how long is the Sydney to Gong ride again...

I’m unsure about the etiquette of telling an owner that a cable lock is not secure: before the bicycle is stolen, or after. In any case, I don’t think Knog sells locks that are secure for a supermarket trip. They had a u-lock which looked interesting, but I haven’t seen it for sale yet.

That picture of the cat is great! Well done, starting is the hardest part. I remember how nervous I was when I tbegan a few years ago, only able to do a few laps of Centennial park. But step, by step, I gained confidence, and have now ridden over 14000 km. I feel I can ride on most  oads now (except Rosville Bridge where you have to go 60 km/h +).

Hope you have longer trips soon.

Well done. Glad to hear that it was a smooth ride for your first solo outing.

Well done.  The first steps are often the hardest.  You realise it's not as scary as you thought, and you gain a bit of confidence.

I'm sure your beautiful bike helped :)
