Cycling in Sydney Australia
The University of Sydney is currently running a mildly naff marketing campaign called 'What Matters' - basically it's an excuse to promote the work of a couple of random academics each month and have people vote on which of their particular areas of interest 'matter most' (?!?!).
Anyway... one positive to come out of this in June is that David Hensher, Director of the University’s Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies, is one of the featured researchers. You can look at a brief video about his work here:
http://what-matters.sydney.edu.au/topic/reducing-traffic-congestion
Next week he'll be taking part in a live online forum on issues like moving people and goods more efficiently, public transport alternatives beyond rail and options for congestion charging.
Send your questions to what.matters@sydney.edu.au, or post in the comments section of David's ‘What Matters’ website page
Comment by Neil Alexander on June 14, 2012 at 1:05pm But has he heard the word "bicycle"?
Dunno... you could go to the website and ask him a question on just that point, though??
To be fair, the quotes above are from the very brief information provided on his What Matters page; I'm sure he'd be quite capable of talking about other forms of transport as well!
Comment by Neil Alexander on June 14, 2012 at 2:55pm OK, I asked him what role he sees for bicycles.
But I had watched his video before I posted my first comment and noted no mention...
