Looks like the track on the south side of Parramatta River at Concord West. Haven't been along there in ages, Yaralla Bay or maybe Brays Bay.

Correct. I thought it would be too easy - for anyone who had been there. I hadn't been for years either, but it was absolutely stunning there yesterday. :-)

I love running through there, from Majors Bay around to the hospital. I took my bike through there a few times but I find it a bit rough, even by my standards. Definitely one of the interesting hidden treasures of Sydney.

Yes, I thought taking the Carbon road bike with the 23 mm tyres was probably not the best choice, but a scary kind of fun anyway. One of the guys on the ride had brand new Schwalbe road tyres and he kept threatening me that I might be in trouble for leading them there, but I think his tyres survived. It is OK to ride from the Kokoda trail to the new buildings at the back of a Concord Hospital, but from there to Yaralla, between the horse paddocks (on the right) and the mangroves on the left, it was a bit boggy . :-)

Where the bike is parked, is the location of the old swimming pool (now filled in) and Steve Daniels told me those grotto-like structures were all hand-made to create change-rooms. I used to take my kids there on Sunday afternoons (by bike) when they were younger. It is a great place to play.

Hi MB,
I was at Rhodes earlier in October and saw a sign that indicated Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway was off limits to bikes. I had to detour around the Train station and somehow landed up in Liberty Grove, and ended up in Olympic Park.

Do you have some some route details ? Or do I get my 10yo to ride with me? : P

Peter, I confess to riding on the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway (but I do wear a helmet :-)). I know it is a sin, but I go there early on week day mornings when there are no pedestrians. I ride slowly with one foot uncleated so I can put my foot to the ground in an instant and pretend i am just rolling my bike through. Now you have made me feel guilty, I think there is a another way - but it involves riding on the footpath, which is also illegal - then you come down the path through the path behind the toilets at the Hospital end of the track (does that make sense?).

MB, thanks for your confession, erm,I mean reply. And for the record I deny thinking about waterboarding.
Yes, that makes a bit of sense from what I can make out on Google Maps
I think I will commandeer the 10 yo (and his license to ride on footpaths) when he next unwittingly agrees to go to Olympic Park .
