Cycling in Sydney Australia
Interested to see if anyone else on SC has been here. Not long after leaving this spot I had a collision with a wombat. He darted out from some reeds beside a track and ran straight into my front wheel. I managed to stay upright, and this animal then decided to tunnel through my bike between front wheel and the cranks.

Comment by Neil Alexander on September 25, 2012 at 12:07pm Wombats are dangerous.
I have had similar problems with wildlife. I was cycling with my son once when I ran over a snail which crunched loudly under my tyre. He asked why I had hit it. I explained that I couldn't avoid it because it ran out in front of me.
Comment by Adrian Carter on September 26, 2012 at 7:59pm @Neil - you were riding an 'S' cargo bike?
@bb - 'Wombat' would be a good name for this place. So would 'Wallaby'. It's actually an old farm within a national park. French's Farm, Maria Island, Tasmania. All the little black specks in the foreground are animal poo.
Comment by Neil Alexander on September 26, 2012 at 9:30pm Aaargh. I just 'got' that yolk.
Comment by Neil Alexander on September 26, 2012 at 9:35pm But now that you come to mention it, yes, I have been there. In 1986.
There was a lot of animal poo then, as well.
I don't recall any wombats at that time, though. Nor S-cargos.
