Hi Dan

Welcome to Sydneycyclist! (a little belatedly I know, I'm usually more on top of this)
How do you like the Casseroll ? I considered that bike just before I bought my Masi

Hope you are able to read the map without the aid of the microscope I need these days. Geez they made it tiny! I really enjoyed researching the routes in Balmain -- some of the harbourside routes are superbly scenic but do you reckon they could shoehorn any more cars in there? Talk about wall-to-wall parking... See you again one Tuesday, maybe after DL saving ends and it is actually light in the morning at 5.45 when I need to leave Artarmon to get there.

It's all good, I need some new cleats I think, having lots of problems with the left foot staying in at the moment, so I got a slow start. I would have overtaken me too!

Hey thanks for the comment. Yeah I'm healing up pretty well, my right shoulder is still a little sore, I might go get some remedial massage done now it doesn't hurt too much.
Skin is all healed up too.

My fitness is a bit of a worry, with my last 6 months of work I hadn't been riding much other than commuting, add in two weeks off the bike and I'm horrible shape.
Thankfully I'm working at home for a few weeks so I can turn that around.

Next step is get the bike fixed....thankfully I have more than one :)

Hi Dan,

Can you tell me what crank length you run on your fixie?
I' using some old 175's that I want to replace cause I keep touching when I pedal through corners. Was thinking most likely165's but was interested to hear what someone running a fixed casseroll was using.

PS glad you're likeing the new one - they are pleasant hey!

Tiny, tiny screwdriver was put in a "safe place where it can be easily found". I will begin searching for it now.

great if you let me know when you get it back that would be tops

Am looking at these particular bits of fluff

I'm pretty sure the bb height is the same for all frame sizes - but will have to go check the salsa website to make sure. Mines a 53 (weird salsa size)

thanks for that. I'll go the 167.5's then should be no probs... of course tyre size probably makes a difference too

Lovely to see a familiar face too

Thanks for the bike complement - I am very pleased with my finished project (painful though it was at times) I am a bit partial to the Salsa too:)

Hi Dan,
Wendy Carlisle, a journo with the ABC Radio National’s Background Briefing and a cyclist, joined SC a couple of days ago with Neil Irvine alerting me. I sent her a message about MHL, infrastructure (particularly HarbourLink and the recent RTA shenanigans) and road user behaviour and attitudes. She phoned me this morning as she is producting a program on bike helmets. We spoke for a good half an hour and wants to interview me this Friday on or near the SHB. I’m in daily contact with Neil Irvine (secretary, NSBG) and he has suggested you. Would you like to be involved? If you are, it’s probably easier for us to contact each other directly (and I can provide Wendy’s email address if she wants you to be involved)
BTW, last week I emailed David Cant, our architect, asking him if he knew you (I always enjoy your contributions).
Hope to hear from you. Thanks.
Cheers,
Russ Webber

And nice to meet you! It's a small place Sydney, it seems. I saw your unusual bike, then saw you didn't have a helmet, and then my mind went bingo. It is nice to put faces to names, and cycle mad people tend to be easy going, so thought I'd chase you down. Sorry for the fright! See you around then.

Well done in court Dan.

Pity it wasn't more news worthy, a media pack could be good for the cause.

Small battles first though, thanks from my mates and myself for representing us all.
