Northern Beaches to North Sydney using Cycleways

A short video on riding from home to North Sydney. I submitted this to bicycleinfo.nsw.gov.au as I'm doing some work promoting cycleways. Would love to get some feedback as I'm currently knocking some other vids and supporting documents.

Thanks Paddy, it's a bit of fun really but I thought it might be good to pop on to You Tube, people new to cycling in Sydney might find it useful. Cheers, mushypea

Good job and I agree with that route being a good option.

Will point people in the direction of this vid from now on. BTW I do like the white fluffy dog St Leonards park in North Sydney. That place is the mecca for WFDs.

Nice vid, but IMHO, showing more of the connections between routes would be cool e.g. how to get onto the Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation path, the tunnel under it the BBCD, ped crossing at the top of Parriwi etc. It is not obvious that there are all these connections.

Also, I think the best way from Freshie is down Oliver St and then onto the path on the eastern side of Pittwater Rd (Caville St/Dalley St/Queenscliff Rd are not particularly nice/safe/whatnot as well as being a bit of a detour) then onto Kenneth Rd shared path rather than Balgowlah Rd shared path - no old men* driving out of golf club and there is a vicious evil magpie on Balgowlah Rd (first S-bend heading from Manly) during magpie season.

The right turn at the bottom of Battle Blvd is not fun in the wet with a car tailgating you. Using the Bus/T3 lane down to the Spit is not about speed. Also, crossing Spit Rd to get to Parriwi takes forever at peak times.

Also, you can get all the way to Macquarie Park using the same routes :).

*probably "only a had a couple" pissed. It's bad enough riding past on the road.

Thanks so much for the comments Baa Baa and Si. Si, sounds like you ride to the CBD often so appreciate your comments. I love the idea of showing how to get on to BBCD and through the underpass. Thanks again, mp

Not the CBD <insular-peninsular>crossing the Spit Bridge everyday is bad enough, if I had to go south of the harbour every day I'd probably die</insular-peninsular> :).

FWIW, this is my commute.

great video... my suggestion would be that some of your clips of your go pro are enlarged as part of the video....i.e. size is bigger than the smaller boxes you have some of them...is it possible to do a close of the route map in the beginning?

the whole video was very professional!

<insular-NorthShore>Ooooh, I know, Si. The dark side of the harbour is just so... dark. </insular-NorthShore>
