Cycling in Sydney Australia
sherlock holmes and the solitary cyclist part 3 have fun watching
Carruthers' bike very interesting, left side chain drive, 1" pitch, fixed wheel with radial spokes rear and tangent spoking front. Note the footpegs high up on front forks, solid rubber tyres, bottom bracket shell above chainstays and behind seat tube, rod operated brakes acting on the tyres. A genuine antique, but maybe the front wheel not original?? Best view is when Carruthers is about to mount as Miss S goes past (second time I think).
Miss Smith's bike looked more modern, it certainly had pneumatics, the best view of that is when it is being loaded into the cart. I shall frefrain from commenting on "Miss Smith" herself.
You do get some good stuff Tom, although no-one seems to acknowledge it hereabouts. A great film. Thanks Tom.
