That was a bit like watching through the on-board camera of an F1 car in a race!

Some of the cyclists who overtook must have been really moving.

The fast bits were sped up 8x. My favourite bit is watching the traffic fly down Harris St at 2:00 in.

That's the first time I've seen the Kent St cycleway, looks like plenty of patronage.  I know one video isn't conclusive evidence, but it looks like there are a lot of people commuting by bike.  I never used to pass that many on my commute in Sydney.  What time of day are you leaving home?

The Kent St cycleway is normally busier than it was this day. I started riding to work every day from about July last year and the numbers have definitely increased and I expect that will continue when Spring kicks in.

I usually leave around 8am but I find it's busier cyclist-wise if I leave a bit earlier than normal.

I also go a slightly different way now to avoid that series of intersections from 1:28 to 2:10ish.

The red light when turning left from Thomas onto Harris Street doesn't make much sense. If I'm not mistaken, the other half of Harris Street is a one way street.

@Lauren Yep, that's right. It's a funny intersection - there's no reason to make those turning left wait. I must admit I often turn left on red there as long as no pedestrians are jaywalking. 

@biker1 I borrowed a friend's ContourGPS and it was mounted near the centre of my handlebars. He bought the mount separately but I'm not sure where. If you're interested let me know and I'll find out.

This route is very common - what it needs is either signposting - or to go to the extreme - green paint - all the way from Newtown to the city (London Cycle Superhighways style). In terms of that going on the footpath at Parramatta Rd - then right into the bus lane to go left into Jones. Maybe with Cenral Park complete - an option to go up Myrtle - left into Balfour - which would get you to the Parramatta Rd - Jones St lights. That route maybe a good signposted cycleway.
