Which Cycloputer?

Its my birthday in a few weeks and my wife posed the annual question "What do you want for your birthday?". What I really want (other than a new $8000 road bike) is a new cycloputer for the bikes I have. At the moment I am using a couple of $20 models I picked up at Big W which I use mainly for the clock function (I hate wearing watches). I'm leaning towards something like this

In his blog, Adrian points us to the Central Sydney Magazine which is presently running a story a story about "Cyclists in the City".. According to the story there is apparently 233km of Cycleways layed every year in NSW. This reminded me of a recent post in BikeForums which I have sto… Continue

This week

I thought I'd add something to this blog. Given my past efforts with blogs, I know It's unlikely I will keep it up-to-date ... but, ever the optimist, here we go ... Mostly lovely cycling this week. Glad to see the weather cooling down a little - even got my old gloves out again. I added a video (here : http://www.sydneycyclist.com/video/video/show?id=1321712:Video:15582) from my daily commute. I like having the camera rolling while I ride - when something unusual or particluarly annoying happe… Continue

Hey Bernie
My comment on Melbournecyclist was pretty snarky...
"car back" is a call used in bunch riding to let the rest of the bunch know there is... well, a car behind.
At 6am, cars can be infrequent enough that it warrants letting the group know, by 10am and there are only three people, a. they can tell there is a car coming and b. the person calling doesn't shut up because the cars don't stop coming.

Can't claim credit for any of the hot looking girls on bikes photos - I ripped most of them off from here : http://www.copenhagencyclechic.com/

I was browsing the pics on this site one evening and was disappointed that there was nothing I "really" like to see ... women on bikes ... so I added a few. At the risk of sounding sexist, I believe there a just too few women cycling in Sydney.

Hey Bernie,
did you take the photo of the girl armed with the U-lock? Legend photo mate!
Cheers

Just in case that isn't the one you were referring to, the kids trailer is also a great option. BigW are even selling them now for about $100.

Another option to test them out is goplayoutside.com.au 9899 4400
They are in North Parramatta and they hire them out. A great way to test and see if you like it.

The trailer with the blue crate is a home made job that needs a slight modification. I have used it particularly for heavy loads in the past, 40+kg on a few occasions. It currently doesn't have a spring mechanism in the attachment arm anywhere and for heavy loads it needs one to make it smoother on the attachment bolt and to stop chain stretch.

A bit different though and what I am hopeing will be my trolley that I just wheel into the supermarket. The other weekend, my daughter and I picked up the framework of a stroller that had been put out on the footpath for a clean up. When you pull all the components apart on these fandangled machines and put them back together it looks like I will get a one wheel (bob) trailer and a two wheeled trailer out of it. Obviously I won't need both but it is more the fun of trying to build the trailers out of someone else's rubbish that has my interest.

Hi Bernie
Yes, got it from bike shop at Victoria rd. Didn't know what I was going to get with this photo but I think it is pretty cool.
I know what you mean, Sydney is so large that it is always nice to find people locally not over an hour away.
I was looking at some of your videos. Nice, I like.
